Meet Dr. Jessica Vernon

I’m Dr. Jessica Vernon, an OB-GYN, with a focus on and passion for pregnancy and postpartum support. Postpartum depression is a term that encompasses a broad spectrum of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders(PMADs) that affect 20% of birthing people during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum.

PMADs also affect 10% of partners. If you did not know this, you are not alone. I, myself, did not recognize my own signs of anxiety, panic disorder, and obsessive compulsive behaviors.

So I’m here to help you feel completely supported in your pregnancy and postpartum journey.

I am an OB/GYN and my training only taught me to look out for the most severe cases of postpartum depression. So when I developed severe anxiety, panic disorder, and obsessive compulsive behaviors I had no clue that this was not just the hyper-vigilance of a new mom. I thought it was normal to not be able to fall asleep and to imagine every possible scenario in which my child may get hurt. Nothing could ease my anxiety as my mind was perpetually moving on to the next readily available disaster scenario. It eventually spiraled to the point that I could no longer enjoy a lot of the activities I used to or the normal moments with my daughter.  I thought that this was how my life as a mom would always be and my anxiety became compounded by depression. The stress of COVID accelerated the decompensation of my mental health and I finally reached a low point where I was forced to start searching for answers.

I’m now on a journey to help as many birthing parents as possible find their own paths to recovery. Taking care of your mental wellness means taking care of your family. Hey Jane is here to support you without judgment and on your own time.
