• Unnecessary testing: An ultrasound is required for every patient.
• Restrictions on minors: Patients under 18 must notify a parent or guardian and get their notarized consent with identification and proof of parenthood, or get a judge’s approval, before receiving abortion care.
• Severely restricted Medicaid and private insurance coverage: Alabama Medicaid does not cover abortion except in very limited circumstances of life endangerment. Private insurance coverage is limited in practice to the state’s limited exceptions to its abortion ban.
