Our story

Hey Jane was founded in 2021 to make abortion care more accessible at a time of clinic closures and growing restrictions. Since then, we’ve expanded our footprint to 23 states, launched even more reproductive and sexual health services, and grown our team. Today, we’re the leading female-founded virtual clinic in the US providing abortion care.

2000
Mifepristone is approved by the FDA.
2020
FDA temporarily allows abortion pill prescription through telehealth during the pandemic.
2021
Hey Jane launches, named in honor of the Jane Collective. The FDA permanently lifts in-person dispensing requirement.
2022
Dobbs decision overturns Roe v. Wade, increasing restrictions and reducing access nationwide. Hey Jane becomes the first telehealth abortion clinic to accept insurance.
2023
Hey Jane launches birth control, emergency contraception, and vaginal infections care.
2024
Hey Jane begins accepting Illinois Medicaid.
2025
Hey Jane reaches 100,000 patients and launches 23rd state.
