What causes a yeast infection?

When too much yeast grows on your skin or other areas, it can cause an infection, also called candidiasis. Anyone can get a yeast infection, and it’s more likely to happen if you:

• Have had a yeast infection before
• Are sexually active
• Use spermicides or diaphragms
