Hey Jane’s 2025 year in review

Here’s what we did to expand reproductive and sexual health care access—and the wins we’re celebrating.

In a year defined by rapid change, relentless attacks on reproductive freedom, and unprecedented community resilience, 2025 reminded us why this work matters—and why we refuse to back down.

As we look back on the past twelve months, we’re celebrating the wins that moved our mission forward and strengthened access to compassionate, evidence-based reproductive health care across the country.

We couldn’t have done this alone. So to our patients, our partners, our supporters, and advocates across the country who have stood up for abortion access: thank you.

While there is still much work to be done—and too many barriers still in place to access

We surpassed 100,000 patients served

This year, we reached a major milestone: More than 100,000 patients have now turned to Hey Jane for safe, effective, judgment-free abortion care. Every one of those patients represents a life changed—a barrier removed, a future reclaimed, a moment of autonomy protected.

This milestone is both a celebration and a call to keep going. Access is still under attack, and demand continues to grow. We’re ready.

We expanded to even more states

In 2025 we launched our services in Ohio and Michigan, expanding our reach to 23 states. These launches brought telemedicine abortion and sexual health care to thousands of residents in states where access has been uneven (in spite of residents voting overwhelmingly in support of abortion access).

With every new state, we build a stronger, more resilient network of care—one that adapts to legal realities, prioritizes patient safety, and meets people where they are.

We strengthened affordability and access

Cost should never be a barrier to accessing abortion care. In 2025, we made care more accessible than ever by expanding financial support options, including:

  • Acceptance of Illinois Medicaid and private insurance plans, unlocking care for as little as $0 for thousands of eligible patients
  • Payment plans, making the cost of treatment more manageable for those paying out-of-pocket
  • New partnerships with abortion funds, including Aggie Fund (Ohio and Michigan), Ohio Women’s Alliance (Ohio), and Rhode Island Abortion Fund (Rhode Island), ensuring that financial hardship is never a reason someone is denied necessary medical care

We showed up—and grew our community

Reproductive health care belongs in every space, not just clinical ones.

This year, we joined Paris Paloma (and our friends at Calling All Crows) on her US tour, tabling at each venue so that we could spread the word about this safe, discreet abortion option. We also popped up at Bonnaroo to talk about reproductive freedom with concert-goers.

And most importantly, we distributed more than 10,000 condoms across the country. From attendees at Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter Tour to university health centers, we put the power (and protection!) back in peoples’ hands at a time when federal funding freezes hit Title X health clinics (which provide comprehensive family planning services to low-income and uninsured individuals), community clinics, and more.

These moments weren’t just activations; they were reminders that community is one of the strongest forces for reproductive freedom.

We pushed back against censorship

Content about reproductive and sexual health care—and especially abortion care—continued to be disproportionately censored and restricted across social media platforms in 2025.

We were impacted directly when, in January, our Instagram account was restricted and our content taken down. Rather than remain silent, we spoke up and shared our experiences with the New York Times, the Guardian, and more about the issues that Hey Jane and other accounts sharing educational information about reproductive health care have faced.

While there is more work to be done, we’re proud to have used our platform to advocate for transparency and fair treatment from tech companies. The battle for accurate information is just as critical as the battle for access—and we’re committed to both.

We championed policies that protect patients

Having helped more than 100,000 patients get abortion care, our expert clinical care team can truly speak to just how safe and effective telehealth is—and how important it is in expanding access. In 2025, we were proud to have shared those insights with key government agencies and elected officials.

This year, Hey Jane supported AB 260 in California, a bill designed to strengthen reproductive freedom in the state. Not only did we sign a letter in support of the legislation, but our Medical Director also testified in front of legislators about how virtual clinics like Hey Jane help patients overcome barriers to care.

We also submitted a comment to several citizens petitions filed with the FDA regarding the safety and efficacy of mifepristone, elevating our patients’ stories and reinforcing the positive impact that Hey Jane services had on their lives.

We celebrated major nationwide wins for abortion access

Against the backdrop of escalating restrictions, 2025 brought several major victories nationwide, including:

  • Pro-reproductive rights governors winning in Virginia and New Jersey

  • Pro-reproductive rights Supreme Court judges being reelected in Pennsylvania

  • A decisive victory for Prop 50 in California, which offers a counter to redistricting attempts across the country to put control of the US House of Representatives in the hands of anti-abortion, anti-reproductive rights legislators

These wins underscore what we know to be true: When reproductive freedom is on the ballot, people vote for it.

We contributed to vital research and data-driven insights

Understanding the future of abortion access requires real patient data. This year, we helped advance the field with:

  • Our patients participating in a new study, which found that telehealth medication abortion is more inclusive and accessible for trans and non-binary patients
  • Our large-scale survey and report on Medicaid members’ experience accessing abortion care in protective states, shedding light on their needs, experiences, and barriers they faced

Discussions around abortion access often excludes the people who are most impacted: the abortion-seekers themselves. By connecting our patients to important research and conducting in-depth surveys and reporting with marginalized communities, we hope to improve their access to care, the quality of care they receive, and broader policy and narratives about abortion.

We're proud to be a leader in building evidence for the future of reproductive health.

Looking ahead: Our commitment for 2026 and beyond

This year was transformative—but the work isn’t done. Far from it. As we enter 2026, we are more committed than ever to:

  • Expanding safe, legal access to care

  • Fighting stigma and misinformation

  • Removing financial and geographical barriers

  • Showing up boldly in the spaces where patients need us

  • Advocating for policies and platforms that protect and empower

  • Delivering compassionate, patient-centered care—every day

Reproductive freedom is a long game. But this year reminded us that progress is possible, momentum is real, and collective action works.

Here’s to what we built together in 2025—and to the work ahead.
